What’s happening in 2014

In 2014 The Amistad Center’s galleries will be closed for renovation. During this time we invite you to enjoy our collection and the programs it inspires at various locations in the Greater Hartford area. Check our website regularly for changes and additions to the array of unique experiences we will offer on land and on line. We look forward to opening a new multi-purpose space in the Wadsworth Atheneum in 2015.

The Amistad Center for Art & Culture, founded in 1987, owns and exhibits a vital collection of nearly 7,000 works of art, artifacts and popular culture objects that document the experience, expressions and history of people of African descent in America.

The Amistad Center is an independently incorporated and managed not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, located in the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art.
